The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing engaging, high-quality video content focused on chess for various digital platforms including YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. This role involves editing raw footage from tournaments, streams, and other sources into compelling stories that resonate with our diverse audience. The Video Editor will utilize advanced editing techniques, motion graphics, and visual effects to craft visually appealing content that highlights key moments, viral highlights, and educational material. The successful candidate will stay abreast of current social media trends and incorporate innovative techniques to ensure our content remains fresh, relevant, and impactful. Collaboration with content strategists, social media managers, and other creative professionals will be essential to align content with brand guidelines and audience preferences. Flexibility in working hours, including off-hours and weekends, may be required to meet content deadlines and participate in live event coverage.

Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Blender, and Cinema 4D
- Strong understanding of YouTube video optimization and social media content strategies
- Exceptional storytelling skills with a keen sense of pacing, timing, and narrative development
- Deep awareness of current internet culture, memes, and viral video trends
- Comprehensive knowledge of chess rules, terminology, notation, and culture
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Prior professional experience editing content related to chess, esports, or traditional sports is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Creative mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous learning
Responsibilities
- Edit and assemble raw video footage into polished short-form and long-form content optimized for various social media platforms
- Enhance videos with motion graphics, transitions, color correction, audio mixing, visual effects, and graphic overlays
- Research and incorporate current social media trends and innovative editing techniques to keep content fresh and engaging
- Review raw footage from tournaments and streams to identify key storylines, viral moments, and highlights for standalone content
- Analyze video performance metrics to refine editing style, pacing, and storytelling approaches for maximum engagement
- Ensure all final video assets adhere to Chess.com's brand guidelines, visual aesthetics, and tone of voice
- Collaborate with content creators, social media teams, and other stakeholders to align content strategy and execution
- Maintain flexibility in work schedule, including off-hours and weekends, to support live event coverage and content deadlines
