About The Role
Recorded Future is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling the data pipelines that underpin our Security Intelligence Graph. Your expertise will help transform vast amounts of raw threat data into structured, actionable intelligence. You will work across application code and infrastructure, ensuring the platform's robustness, scalability, and performance as it continues to grow. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead architectural improvements, drive technical innovation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance our threat intelligence capabilities. As a leader in the engineering team, you will mentor junior engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to the overall technical excellence of our organization.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or platform engineering
  • Proficiency in Python; experience with Go or Rust is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM fundamentals
  • Experience with message queues and pub/sub systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Proficiency with SQL databases like Postgres or AWS RDS, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Elasticsearch
  • Familiarity with data lake storage frameworks like Delta Lake and graph databases such as AWS Neptune or Neo4j
  • Experience developing REST APIs using frameworks such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI
  • Proven ability to architect and deliver production-grade applications and ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Strong understanding of building reliable data pipelines, including observability, error handling, and failure recovery
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines; GitHub Actions experience is advantageous
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform is a plus
  • Ability to work with high-volume, complex, and unstructured data sets
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to collect, transform, and deliver structured threat intelligence data
  • Drive architectural improvements to enhance platform scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Contribute to both backend services and infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and operation
  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to large-scale datasets to generate meaningful insights
  • Ensure pipeline reliability through comprehensive observability, error handling, and failure recovery practices
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, supporting efficient and repeatable deployments
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Terraform to streamline infrastructure management
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, communicating complex technical concepts clearly
  • Mentor junior engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to technical knowledge sharing
  • Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions to improve data processing and security insights
