About The Role Midwest Dairy is seeking a motivated HR Generalist specializing in Benefits & Compensation to support the daily operations of our Human Resources department. This role is integral in creating a positive and engaging employee experience by managing benefits administration, compensation support, onboarding processes, HR systems, and employee relations. As a key resource for both employees and leadership, the HR Generalist will handle a broad spectrum of HR responsibilities, with a primary focus on benefits and compensation. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys engaging with employees, managing operational details, and aspiring to grow into a broader HR partnership role. The successful candidate will contribute to the People & Culture initiatives, gain exposure to organizational projects, and develop professionally within a collaborative and mission-driven environment. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience
3–5 years of experience in human resources, benefits administration, or HR operations
HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar (preferred or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
Experience working within HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications (preferred)
Must reside within Midwest Dairy’s 10-state region
Flexibility to attend events outside of regular hours as needed
Willingness to travel up to 10-15%
Responsibilities
Lead the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and vendor coordination
Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit questions and support employees in resource navigation
Coordinate open enrollment activities, including communication, system support, tracking, and follow-up
Maintain accurate benefit records, support billing reconciliation, and ensure compliance documentation
Support payroll coordination and employee data management related to compensation and benefits
Assist with benefits reporting, audits, invoice review, and vendor communications
Support leave of absence processes and employee accommodations in partnership with HR leadership
Act as an HR resource for employees and leaders, responding to inquiries and providing policy guidance
Support onboarding, offboarding, and employment changes to foster a positive employee experience
Assist with employee relations, gathering information, maintaining documentation, and partnering on resolutions
Coordinate and support People & Culture initiatives, programs, and organizational activities
Support employee development, engagement, and performance initiatives through logistical and operational assistance
Contribute to employee learning programs, HR initiatives, and cross-functional projects
Assist in talent acquisition efforts, including job postings, interview coordination, and onboarding logistics
Maintain recruitment documentation, support pre-employment activities, and coordinate internship programs
Maintain HR records, employee files, and HRIS data ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Assist with compliance with employment laws and organizational policies
Support HR systems administration, reporting, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives
