About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Database Developer to join our Development - Software Development department on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is based in the United States, with remote work options available, particularly in New Jersey. As a Database Developer at Confluence, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing high-performance SQL solutions that underpin our market-leading investment performance analytics platform. Your work will directly influence how global clients measure and understand investment outcomes, making this position both challenging and impactful.
You will be involved in building scalable data models, transforming custodial and investment data into analytics-ready structures, and resolving complex performance issues across vast datasets. Collaborating closely with application, UI, and engineering teams, you will contribute to platform modernization initiatives and support enterprise-grade solutions that serve some of the largest financial institutions worldwide. Qualifications
  • Prior experience with investment performance reporting or analytics systems
  • Industry experience in investment management, asset management, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of core investment concepts such as equities, fixed income, benchmarks, and returns
  • Experience working with custodial and financial data structures
  • Proficiency in SQL Server, including developing stored procedures and complex queries
  • Knowledge of data transformation and modeling techniques
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving database performance bottlenecks
  • Proficiency in Python programming language
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools for coding or testing
  • Background working with asset managers, investment advisors, or custodians
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures and complex queries to support large-scale investment performance calculations
  • Map and transform data from custodial and investment sources into structured, analytics-ready data models
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across datasets containing millions to billions of records
  • Collaborate with application and UI engineers to ensure database outputs support reporting and dashboard functionalities
  • Partner with onshore and offshore teams to deliver scalable, enterprise-grade data solutions
  • Contribute to platform modernization initiatives, supporting new large enterprise client programs
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain high-quality standards
  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate best practices into development processes
