About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Data Analyst to join UCLA LPPI. In this role, you will support high-impact, data-driven research projects that contribute to policy solutions for Latino communities. You will collaborate with a diverse team of researchers, policymakers, and community stakeholders to produce meaningful insights that inform policy and practice. This position offers an opportunity to work on impactful projects, contribute to public-facing research publications, and develop your skills in social science research and data analysis. As a full-time UCLA employee, you will benefit from a comprehensive UC benefits package, professional development opportunities, and a dynamic work environment. The position is hybrid, requiring occasional in-person meetings, and candidates should be based in Southern California. Travel may be required for conferences or research activities. All necessary work equipment will be provided upon hire, following ergonomic assessment completion. Candidates selected for the next stage will be asked to submit a writing sample to demonstrate their communication skills.

Qualifications
- Ability to maintain cooperative relationships and ongoing communication with individuals from diverse social, educational, and cultural backgrounds.
- Working knowledge of social science and/or policy research, including technical expertise, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience supporting the production of publications and communication projects from draft to final versions, including methodology, data collection, analysis, peer review, and publication processes.
- Highly organized with proficiency in project management tools to compile information efficiently, manage tasks, and track project progress.
- Ability to work independently and follow directions, make informed decisions, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong skills in statistical analysis, writing, reporting, and copy editing, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and grammatically correct documents for academic and public audiences.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as R, STATA, SAS, Python, or similar tools.
- Experience with data management, including acquiring, cleaning, merging, and analyzing large datasets.
- Ability to conceptualize strategic communications that promote organizational goals.
- Experience handling confidential or sensitive data responsibly.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (preferred).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital dissemination tools (preferred).
- Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, public policy, public health, economics, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Relevant experience or training in social science research and data analysis is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation, and analysis of research projects focused on Latino communities and underserved populations.
- Collect, clean, and manage large datasets to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Conduct statistical analyses to generate insights that inform policy recommendations.
- Assist in preparing research reports, policy briefs, and publications for academic and public audiences.
- Collaborate with team members to develop research methodologies and data collection strategies.
- Contribute to the development of presentations, infographics, and other visual materials for dissemination.
- Support the organization and coordination of stakeholder meetings, conferences, and community engagement activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of research processes, data management protocols, and analytical procedures.
- Support the organization’s digital outreach efforts through social media and other online platforms.
- Ensure compliance with all institutional and ethical standards related to research conduct and data security.
