About The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced C#/.Net Developer to join our dynamic team remotely. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level software applications within the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex projects that directly impact public service delivery. The role requires a strong understanding of full-stack development, including back-end services, APIs, and database integration, with a focus on delivering high-performance, secure, and scalable solutions. Candidates should be comfortable working within Agile frameworks, collaborating with stakeholders, and providing technical guidance to junior team members. This position is ideal for professionals with a proven track record in .NET development, seeking to contribute to meaningful projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related technical discipline (minimum 8 years of experience) OR Master’s Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience OR Ph.D. with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in software development using .NET technologies
  • Expertise in .NET Framework and .NET Core, with strong C# skills
  • Proficiency in developing back-end applications using MVC architecture and .NET Core
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and other API integrations
  • Database design and development experience with SQL Server and Entity Framework
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS
  • Experience with version control systems including Git and TFS/TFVC
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools like Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy
  • Proficiency in unit testing frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within Agile teams
  • Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Understanding of security best practices for web applications and APIs
  • Experience with performance tuning and application optimization
  • Desirable: Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims (837, 834, 277, etc.) and microservices architecture
  • Formal Education: As specified above
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
  • Security Clearance: Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI)

Responsibilities
  • Perform technical planning, including requirements gathering, high-level and detailed design, and test planning/execution.
  • Develop, test, and deploy software applications using full-stack .NET technologies, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and security.
  • Participate actively in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Interface with stakeholders to gather project requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services as needed.
  • Utilize IDE tools such as Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, and Git for development, version control, and deployment.
  • Develop and execute unit tests, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices for software quality assurance.
  • Document software designs, including diagrams and module descriptions, to facilitate maintainability and knowledge sharing.
  • Implement long-term solutions within an Agile framework, emphasizing reusability and modularity.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for deployed solutions, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve complex technical issues and improve existing systems.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to team skill development initiatives.
