About The Role The Finance Coordinator / Junior Accountant is a full-time remote position based in the United States, reporting directly to the Senior Controller, Finance. This role is integral to supporting the organization’s financial health by managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and grant administration activities. The ideal candidate will provide essential financial and administrative assistance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting, or related field
Minimum of one year of relevant experience in financial management or accounting
Experience managing projects and/or grants from a financial perspective
Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accrued accounting and revenue recognition
Familiarity with audit requirements and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Google Workspace
Preferred experience with Bill.com, Salesforce.com, and Navan.com
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Keen attention to detail and high accuracy in work
Responsibilities
Assist with receiving, entering, and processing bills to ensure timely payments; review purchase orders, pricing, and payment terms for accuracy; maintain relationships with service providers and address inquiries
Set up vendors for payments, ensuring complete documentation; collaborate on contract renewals and support tax-related activities including filing 1099 forms at year-end
Issue invoices to members and stakeholders in compliance with GAAP and internal policies; track, record, and reconcile all payments; maintain and update client and stakeholder information in Salesforce and QuickBooks Online
Handle inquiries related to invoices, banking details, and supplier maintenance; support prompt processing of invoices via online purchase order systems
Perform month-end and year-end activities such as revenue deferred calculations, revenue accruals, and account reconciliations
Support grant management activities by tracking expenditures, ensuring compliance, generating financial reports, and assisting with grant proposals and budgeting
Maintain grant-related documentation and liaise with project teams for reporting and issue resolution
Provide general administrative support to the finance team, including maintaining organized records and documentation
Assist with the month-end close process and preparation of financial reports; support annual audit procedures and compliance activities
