About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Maryland Heights, MO, supporting future franchise programs. This role involves developing advanced software for the next-generation Mission Planning system designed for the Department of Defense. The successful candidate will be part of an agile scrum team, following the SAFe methodology to deliver innovative weapon planning software. The system leverages a microservices architecture, utilizing JavaScript and React for the front-end, and primarily C# for back-end services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical defense software, contributing to national security and defense capabilities. The Senior Software Engineer will be instrumental in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software throughout its lifecycle. The role requires close collaboration with product owners, systems engineers, hardware engineers, and program managers to translate customer requirements into robust technical solutions. The position emphasizes continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of software products. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge defense systems, gaining valuable experience in high-stakes environments. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. The role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work. Candidates should have at least 15 years of software development experience, with proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, C#, and/or C++. Experience with RESTful API development and usage is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are critical, along with excellent communication abilities for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, project tracking tools like Jira or Azure DevOps, and version control systems such as Git is required. The ability to document software designs, interface specifications, and test plans clearly is also necessary. Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain weapon planning software throughout its entire lifecycle, ensuring adherence to technical standards and client requirements.
Assist the Product Owner in reviewing, analyzing, and translating customer needs into initial software designs and specifications.
Develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software functionalities, including system integrations and interfaces.
Support the development and documentation of system architectures, requirements, algorithms, and interface specifications.
Troubleshoot technical issues, perform debugging, and resolve problems to maintain high system reliability and performance.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of software processes and best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of software components.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation activities to ensure software quality and compliance with security standards.
