About The Role As a Senior Software Developer within CoverMyMeds Specialty Access and Affordability, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and delivering innovative software solutions that directly impact patient access to necessary medications. Your work will support platforms and services that facilitate prior authorization, affordability, and patient enrollment workflows, which are essential in ensuring patients can start and maintain their therapies effectively. This position involves operating as a senior individual contributor, taking full ownership of meaningful technical work from conception to deployment. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to develop scalable, cloud-native solutions that meet business needs. Your technical ownership will include features and services within your domain, driving the day-to-day delivery, and elevating the engineering standards across the team. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree or equivalent experience with at least 7+ years of relevant professional experience. Critical skills include proficiency in modern backend and full-stack development, particularly with TypeScript and JavaScript, along with hands-on experience with technologies such as Node.js, React, GraphQL, and event-driven systems like Kafka. Experience working in cloud environments, especially Azure or comparable platforms, and integrating APIs across distributed systems is essential. Strong fundamentals in software engineering practices, including testing, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and observability, are required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment. Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy features and services supporting Specialty Access and Affordability products, including our FHIR-based data platform.
Own the delivery of complex features from requirements gathering through to production deployment, ensuring operational readiness and stability.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, contributing to the development of engineering standards and best practices.
Partner with cross-functional teams—Product, Design, and Engineering—to translate product needs into technical solutions, identifying risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs.
Participate actively in design discussions, code reviews, and sprint planning, providing constructive feedback and innovative ideas.
Share knowledge through mentoring, pairing, and code reviews to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Enhance code quality, system performance, observability, and operational stability while reducing deployment friction through process improvements.
Participate in on-call rotations and support activities to ensure system reliability and high availability.
Benefits McKesson offers a competitive total rewards package that includes base salary, performance-based bonuses, and long-term incentive opportunities. The compensation range for this position is $131,000 to $218,300, determined by experience, skills, and performance.
