About The Role
The Missile Solutions segment of L3Harris is seeking a Zeiss Calypso Programmer to join our Precision Measurement Room (PMR) team at our Canoga Park, CA facility. This role is integral to ensuring the highest quality standards in manufacturing by developing and maintaining CMM programs that enable precise measurement of complex hardware components. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, prioritizing, and executing measurement programs utilizing Zeiss Calypso software, supporting manufacturing operations through accurate and reliable inspection processes. This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-precision environment, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to optimize measurement techniques and improve product quality. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of four years of relevant quality or measurement experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least two years of related experience. Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of eight years of extensive experience in quality assurance and measurement techniques will also be considered. Preferred qualifications include at least three years of hands-on experience using Zeiss Calypso software, familiarity with ASME Y14.5 standards, and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings. Additional desirable skills include experience with structured light systems, Zeiss O-Inspect optical inspection CMMs, and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles. Certifications such as CMM certification on Zeiss Calypso and experience with measurement instrumentation will be advantageous. Strong analytical, communication, and attention to detail skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role include developing, testing, and implementing CMM programs using Zeiss Calypso software to measure complex components and assemblies accurately. The candidate will coordinate with cross-functional teams to prioritize measurement tasks, manage project deadlines, and support process development initiatives aimed at improving measurement efficiency, accuracy, and consistency. Providing technical support and guidance to inspectors and other personnel on inspection techniques and measurement best practices is a key aspect of the role. The Programer will analyze measurement data, generate detailed reports, and identify discrepancies, recommending corrective actions to ensure product quality. Maintaining comprehensive documentation of measurement data, inspection reports, and calibration records is vital. The role also involves collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to troubleshoot measurement issues, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Additionally, the candidate will provide training and technical support on Zeiss Calypso software and CMM equipment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
