About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our Plant Engineering team at our state-of-the-art facility in Yazoo City, Mississippi. This pivotal role involves managing and executing capital projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and environmental standards. The Senior Project Engineer will work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to support ongoing plant activities and implement improvements that enhance operational efficiency and safety. The role requires a proactive approach to project management, technical expertise in process engineering, and strong leadership skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and external vendors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a company dedicated to sustainability and innovation in the chemical process industry.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, with preferred disciplines including Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Construction Management, complemented by applicable experience. A minimum of 10 years of process engineering experience within the chemical industry is desired, with demonstrated proficiency in process modeling, unit operations, process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, and process hazard analysis. Hands-on experience in a chemical production environment is essential. Candidates should be proficient in computer applications within a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are required to effectively collaborate with teams and communicate technical information to management. The candidate should also have experience leading procurement efforts and specifying process equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of capital projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and startup. Key responsibilities include preparing capital estimates, budgets, scope documents, and schedules; developing project concepts and evaluating alternatives in collaboration with stakeholders; and ensuring all project activities adhere to legal, safety, and environmental regulations. The role involves leading technical evaluations, reviewing specifications, and providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams. The engineer will coordinate procurement activities, specify equipment, and work with internal engineering staff to ensure timely and compliant deliverables. Managing project execution to achieve business value, maintaining detailed project documentation, and reporting on project status are critical functions. Additionally, the role requires working closely with plant personnel to facilitate successful project implementation and start-up activities, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
