About The Role
The Human Resources Business Partner at Windigo Logistics plays a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives to foster a high-performance culture. This role involves providing comprehensive HR support and guidance to management and employees, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and implementing HR initiatives that enhance employee engagement and operational efficiency. The HR Business Partner will serve as a trusted advisor, facilitating talent management, employee relations, and organizational development efforts. The position requires a proactive individual capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on building strong relationships across all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving HR best practices, supporting change management initiatives, and contributing to the company's overall growth and success.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree in Human Resources Management or SHRM (PHR) certification is preferred. Relevant industry experience in operational environments such as warehousing, distribution, transportation, or manufacturing is highly desirable. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred to support diverse workforce needs. Candidates should have hands-on experience with HRIS systems, with ADP experience being a plus. Strong knowledge of employment laws, policies, and procedures is essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement methodologies is advantageous. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to influence change, exhibit strong judgment, and possess effective project management skills. Familiarity with union environments and a customer service-oriented mindset will be beneficial. A high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and a growth-oriented attitude are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Support the company's strategic goals by partnering with various business units to deliver tailored HR solutions that meet operational needs. Develop and maintain strong relationships with managers and employees to understand the business environment and workforce implications. Provide coaching and development support to managers to enhance their leadership capabilities and improve team performance. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies, through ongoing education and communication. Assist management with policy interpretation, implementation, and troubleshooting technical HR questions. Collaborate with functional teams to execute HR initiatives, including policy rollouts, benefits administration, HRIS system optimization, and employee engagement programs.
Manage employee relations issues by providing consultative support, conducting investigations, and documenting findings in accordance with legal and company standards. Facilitate onboarding, transfers, compliance protocols, and exit procedures to ensure a smooth employee lifecycle experience. Maintain accurate HR documentation, including personnel files, I-9 documentation, E-Verify records, and HRIS transactions, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Partner with payroll and benefits teams to coordinate employee compensation and benefits programs. Serve as a resource for employment claims and inquiries, providing guidance and resolution support. Analyze HR data and prepare reports on turnover, trends, compensation, and legal compliance to inform management decisions. Participate in special projects and company initiatives as assigned, contributing to continuous improvement and organizational development.
