Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a solid educational background with a BSc or MSc in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in clinical data science, statistical programming, or clinical data management within pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare environments is required. Technical proficiency in SAS, R, Python, and SQL is essential, along with familiarity with version control systems such as Git. Experience working with CDISC SDTM and ADaM standards is highly preferred. Knowledge of oncology endpoints, including RECIST and survival analysis, as well as real-world data (RWD), will be advantageous. Core competencies include meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with unstructured data, including NLP-derived outputs. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Clinical Data Scientist, your primary responsibilities will encompass data transformation and delivery, statistical programming, and quality control. You will convert raw clinical data—whether manually abstracted, AI-processed, or from electronic medical records—into standardized formats such as CDISC SDTM or client-specific models. Building analysis-ready datasets from diverse sources like EDC systems and internal tools will be a key task. You will develop and generate Tables, Listings, and Figures (TLFs) for clinical study reports and interim analyses using SAS, R, or Python, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Maintaining data integrity through comprehensive cleaning, validation, and discrepancy investigations is crucial. You will work closely with engineering teams to automate data workflows, streamline validation processes, and serve as an internal customer for new data infrastructure tools. Documenting data specifications, derivation logic, and review guides—such as Define.xml—is essential to support audits and regulatory submissions. Additionally, you will provide ad hoc and exploratory analyses, supporting internal and external stakeholders with data queries and insights that demonstrate the platform’s value.
Ethical and compliant data management is a fundamental aspect of this role. You will adhere to privacy, security, and regulatory standards, including HIPAA, and promote ethical handling of sensitive clinical data.
