## Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an

organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Background

Check Associate. Under direction, this position will receive and review

incoming criminal history and Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System

clearances and apply agency policy and procedures to independently

provide information and/or recommendations for resolution. The position

will independently perform cursory review of background check

information to ensure completeness of information for approval or denial

of licensure/employment prior to data entry.

The position will also perform data entry of background check

information and/or driver eligibility status for facility drivers into

the appropriate Department system. This position provides a great

opportunity for someone who is detail oriented and interested in playing

## Essential Functions

-  Serves as Background Check Associate

-  Performs data entry of CANTS, Sex Offender Registry System (SORS),

National Sex Offender Registry System (NSORS), Out-of-State CANTS,

Interstate Criminal History, Illinois State Police, Federal Bur eau

of Investigation, and/or driver eligibility status for facility

drivers into the appropriate Departmental system

-  Prepares, keyboards, and maintains complex, highly specialized

Background Check Unit (BCU) reports and other reports related to

application and recommendation materials processed through Central

Office

-  Serves as liaison to requesting parties regarding information on

Authorization for Background Check

-  Serves as Central Office of Licensing contact for all issues

concerning facility driver checks

-  Receives, sorts, reviews, and distributes incoming mail

-  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably

within the scope of the duties enumerated above

-  Serves as Child Intake and Recovery Unit Specialist.

-  Maintains and monitors information in the data system and, as

necessary, follows up with direct service staff to ensure

compliance.

-  Receives or obtains information for after hour medical and

psychiatric consents for youth.

-  Receives calls from youth who are missing and provides information

**About Returning.**

-  Receives and reviews CFS 1900/1901 forms for child welfare intake.

-  Receives walk-in child welfare intake requests.

-  Responds to information requests regarding children and youth who

are missing.

-  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably

within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

## Minimum Qualifications

-  Preferably requires a master\'s degree in social work; or a

master\'s degree in a related human service field, supplemented by

one year of directly related professional casework/ case management

experience related to family preservation, family reunification,

adoption, youth development, counseling and advocacy services or a

related field;

OR

-  Requires a bachelor\'s degree in social work and one year of

directly related professional casework/ case management experience

related to family preservation, family reunification, adoption,

youth development, counseling and advocacy services or a related

field;

OR

Requires a bachelor\'s degree in a related human service field and two

years of directly related professional casework/ case management

experience related to family preservation, family reunification,

adoption, youth development, counseling and advocacy services or a

related field.
