About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist with a focus on industrial applications to join our fully remote team. This full-time, exempt role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of predictive diagnostics and anomaly detection solutions that keep critical industrial assets operational. As a key member of our data science team, you will work at the intersection of time-series analytics, machine learning, and engineering domain knowledge to craft scalable, production-grade solutions. Your work will directly impact our customers by improving asset reliability, reducing operational costs, and minimizing unplanned downtime. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and domain experts to translate complex business challenges into effective data science models and workflows. This position requires residing within the United States, with some regional restrictions on remote applicants. Compensation ranges from $98,837 to $154,546, depending on experience.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace, with formal training or demonstrated proficiency in data science, machine learning, and analytics. A minimum of five years of professional experience in data science within an industrial environment is required, with industry experience in sectors like power generation, oil & gas, aerospace, or manufacturing preferred. Candidates with a master’s or PhD in relevant fields may substitute up to two years of experience. Proficiency in Python (including NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch), SQL, and time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, Snowflake) is essential. Hands-on experience with time-series modeling techniques such as ARIMA, Prophet, LSTMs, and transformers is highly valued. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), MLOps tools (MLflow, Docker, Airflow), and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is required. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, train, and deploy machine learning and AI models tailored to process and analyze sensor and operational data from industrial equipment. Build predictive, prescriptive, and anomaly detection models using various techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning to support real-time decision-making. Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), data preprocessing, feature engineering, and signal processing on high-volume, noisy datasets to uncover meaningful patterns and correlations. Support the creation of end-to-end AI workflows, including automated data ingestion, model training pipelines, inference deployment at the edge or in the cloud, and continuous model performance monitoring. Apply statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimentation methods like A/B testing and causal inference to validate model robustness. Support the development and maintenance of scalable ML pipelines following MLOps best practices, including model versioning, retraining, deployment, and lifecycle management, particularly in edge and embedded environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into effective data science solutions, such as predictive maintenance, fault detection, and process optimization. Perform data cleansing, validation, and collation activities to ensure model accuracy and reliability under real-world conditions. Communicate technical findings and business impact through visualizations, reports, and presentations. Explore emerging techniques like synthetic sensor data generation, multimodal data fusion, and edge AI optimization, recommending their integration into production workflows. Assist in defining project requirements aligned with strategic goals and provide subject matter expertise to product development teams. Support research initiatives and contribute to the broader industrial AI community through open-source contributions, publications, or conference presentations.
