**Responsibilities To Include**

- Review historic case files and site reports to develop conceptual site models and case summaries for UST release sites.

- Analyze conceptual site models for UST releases and evaluate site conditions in accordance with the State Water Resources Control Board's Low-Threat UST Case Closure Policy (LTCP).

- Develop closure documentation packages for UST release sites that meet LTPC criteria.

- Review lead Regional Water Board files, parcel records, and local regulatory agency files to identify Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs).

- Review lead agency files in person to determine completeness of the online record and facilitate scanning of physical files. This may require travel within the State of California.

- Develop effective case management strategies in coordination with lead oversight agencies.

- Prepare agendas, attend meetings, and document discussions with UST Program stakeholders regarding program issues and concerns.

- Draft directive letters and notices to Responsible Parties (RPs) of UST release sites.

- Track delivery status of issued letters and notices, as well as deadlines for RP submittals.

- Assist property owners and other RPs in identifying and applying for funding programs available for UST release cleanup or removal of out of compliance USTs.

Junior Environmental Scientist

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements. 
This massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. At Nevada Gold Mines, the Senior Geologic Modeler is a technical and leadership role responsible for developing, maintaining, and advancing fit-for-purpose geological models that directly support resource growth, mine planning, and operational excellence. This role leads the implementation of best-practice 3D geological modeling workflows by integrating geological, geophysical, and geochemical data with field observations to deliver high-quality, defensible interpretations.

You will work closely with mine and resource geologists, engineers, operations, and data scientists to ensure geological models meet business needs, industry standards, and operational timelines—while continuously improving how we model and understand our orebodies.

**Responsibilities**

- Lead and promote Nevada Gold Mines’ Journey to Zero safety culture and company values with an emphasis on visible felt leadership and time in the field

- Deliver high-priority geological model updates on schedule to support business needs.

- Continuously improve and innovate geological modeling and estimation workflows.

- Conduct regular field visits to mentor teams and validate geological models.

- Ensure compliance with role responsibilities, annual deliverables, and company standards.

- Provide training and technical guidance on geological modeling and domaining best practices.

- Communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to key stakeholders.

- Work closely with Mine and Resource Geologists to set modeling priorities aligned with operational requirements.

- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support short- and long-term mine planning, maximizing ore recovery and minimizing dilution.

- Support grade control, orebody knowledge transfer, and optimization of mill feed quality.

- Integrate drilling, mapping, and reconciliation data to improve model accuracy and performance.

- Support optimization of the mine plan and communicate geological risks and opportunities.

- Assist the Geology Superintendent as needed and support model validation across the geology value chain.

- Ensure model documentation meets company standards and best practices

- Follow all HS&E policies and procedures, identify and mitigate risks, and promote safe work practices.

**Qualifications**

- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Earth Science, Geological Engineering, or a related field

- Ability to learn commonly used mining software

- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in mining or exploration geology preferred.

- Proficient geologic modeling skills required in Leapfrog Geo preferred.

- Demonstrate a genuine ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a leadership team and encourage collaboration, trust, and transparency across the organization.

**Responsibilities**

- Coach, mentor, and provide technical leadership to mine geologists

- Design and execute best-practice, fit-for-purpose resource estimation workflows aligned to business needs

- Build, validate, and continuously improve geological and block models of varying complexity, with a clear focus on value and risk

**Qualifications**

**Your role at GEI.**

GEI is seeking a mid-level Environmental Engineer/Scientist/Geologist in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Under supervision of senior staff, this individual will provide support to ongoing field and office-related efforts. Field activities may include: drilling of soil borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells; collection of groundwater, sediment, soil, soil vapor and air samples; operation of air monitoring equipment; testing to evaluate groundwater aquifer characteristics; and remedial construction oversight and management. Office tasks include: project planning and management; client, subcontractor and agency interaction; review and interpretation of data; preparation of work plans and reports; development of investigation and remedial strategies; and remedial design. This position can be either in our Marquette or Houghton, MI offices.

**Essential Responsibilities & Duties**

- Support environmental site assessments, remedial and pre-design investigations, test borings, well installations, environmental sampling of various media, aquifer testing, pilot tests, and technical oversight of subcontractors.

- Support construction management services including coordination with design engineers and clients, specification and submittal review, and project tracking and documentation. Responsibilities also include participating in or leading construction team meetings, acting as a client liaison, assisting with the preparation of final engineering or construction completion reports.

- Support data management and analysis, technical report development, and assist in preparation of technical presentations and proposals to clients and regulators.

- Support the development/refinement of investigation and remedial strategies for various types of sites and contaminants, and the design and installation of remediation systems.

- Project management tasks including budget preparation and tracking, staffing and scheduling, and interaction with subcontractors, clients and regulatory agency representatives.

- Assist with proposals and business development activities for the region.

- May be periodically required to spend 1-4 nights per week or more out of town working at remote locations.

- A typical workday consists of an 8-hour day. Some projects may include irregular hours (40-55 hours per week) up to a 12 hour day, with irregular starting and quitting times, in accordance with the requirements of the assigned job.

**Minimum Qualifications**

- B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology; M.S. is a plus.

- EIT or P.E. is a plus.

- A minimum of 4 years of previous professional experience in environmental consulting.

- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

- Experience with spatial analysis and visualization software such as CAD, GIS, Leapfrog Hydro, EVS, etc., is a plus.

- 40-hour HAZWOPER training is preferred.

- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
