The Role The Forensic Architect examines buildings to understand why damage or problems have occurred. This includes visiting sites, gathering information, reviewing drawings and building codes, conducting research, and working with clients to understand their concerns. This role involves analyzing findings, managing project tasks and deadlines, and writing clear reports that explain conclusions. Projects vary in size and type, offering experience across many kinds of buildings while working as part of a collaborative team. The ideal candidate has an established network of clientele and is experienced with building, establishing, and maintaining rapport with this network. For Seattle-based candidates, this role is hybrid with part-time work from our new office with a state of the art forensic laboratory and evidence storage facility. In This Role, You Will
Investigate damage to residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
Visit job sites to observe conditions and document findings
Review materials, weather exposure, and construction methods to identify causes of damage
Help develop repair solutions, specify materials and coordinate with other professionals when needed
Review building drawings and records to confirm code compliance
Evaluate how design and construction decisions affected building performance
Write clear reports that explain findings and recommendations
Communicate directly with clients throughout each project
Balance multiple assignments while meeting schedules and budget constraints
Support legal proceedings, including testimony, when required
Stay informed on current building codes and industry standards
Work collaboratively with team members
What You Bring
Degree in Architecture
Active Architectural license
At least 10 years’ architectural or building related experience
Strong understanding of building codes and enclosure systems
Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
Ability to manage time effectively and work independently
Networking and business development skills
Willingness to travel

Base salary and bonus will be commensurate with experience.
