Application Deadline: 15 May 2026 Department: Medical Operations - UrgentVet Location: Medical Leadership Description Vice President of Medicine – UrgentVet Title : Vice President of Medicine – UrgentVet Department : Clinical Leadership Reports to : Chief Medical Officer / Chief of Operations Scope of Position The Vice President of Medicine – UrgentVet provides enterprise level clinical and operational leadership for UrgentVet’s expanding national network of 90+ urgent care animal hospitals operating across multiple states. This role is responsible for setting, scaling, and sustaining medical standards, ensuring clinical quality, and driving consistent delivery of urgent care services as the organization continues to grow. As a senior clinical executive, the VP of Medicine partners closely with Operations, Talent Relations, HR, Finance, and executive leadership to balance clinical excellence with hospital performance, growth, and scalability across a rapidly expanding platform. This role directly leads and develops a team of Regional Medical Directors and serves as the primary liaison between clinical teams and corporate leadership for the UrgentVet brand. Essential Job Functions
Establish and oversee veterinary medical standards, clinical protocols, and urgent care scope of medicine across 90+ and growing UrgentVet locations
Provide executive level clinical leadership, mentorship, and decision support to Regional Medical Directors, Medical Directors, and veterinary teams
Lead, develop, and manage a dispersed team of Regional Medical Directors supporting multi-site, multi-state operations
Drive consistency in clinical quality, patient outcomes, and medical compliance across a large and expanding urgent care network
Partner with Operations leadership to align medical strategy with hospital performance, staffing models, financial objectives, and growth initiatives including de novo openings and market expansion
Monitor clinical and operational performance metrics and implement data driven improvement strategies
Collaborate with Talent and People teams on recruiting, onboarding, retention, and development of veterinary leadership and clinicians
Support hospital growth, de novo launches, and service line evolution from a clinical governance and risk management perspective
Represent UrgentVet in industry forums, professional associations, and external partnerships
Oversee continuing education strategy and professional development for veterinary teams
Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and accreditation requirements across jurisdictions
Serve as a key escalation point for complex clinical, operational, and people related challenges
Partner with Training, Marketing, Finance, and Technology teams to operationalize clinical programs, tools, and initiatives
Co-lead the Circle of Excellence program and other clinical engagement initiatives
Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, compassion, and innovation throughout all medical teams
Perform other duties as assigned by the CMO or CEO

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Multiple active veterinary licenses in applicable state(s)
Maintain, obtain, and oversee veterinarian licensure and regulatory credentials including but not limited to state professional licenses, DEA registration, controlled substance registrations, premise permits, and any other required licenses or permits across all regions of responsibility, ensuring personal, hospital, and company compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Minimum of 8 years of clinical veterinary experience with progressive leadership responsibility
Minimum of 3 years of senior clinical and operational leadership experience within a corporate veterinary group, with direct responsibility for overseeing multi-site operations across a minimum of 15 animal hospitals, spanning multiple states
Prior leadership experience in urgent care is preferred; experience in emergency and general practice hospital settings will also be considered.
Proven experience leading and developing clinical leaders in a scaled, growth oriented environment
Strong understanding of urgent care workflows, extended hours models, and high acuity decision making
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with operations and executive leadership in a corporate setting
Strong financial and operational acumen related to hospital performance and clinical scalability
Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship building skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet
Ability to travel as needed to support hospital visits, leadership meetings, and industry engagement
