NETA Field Service Technician Company: United Power Services Location: Travel-Based / Multiple Project Sites Industry: Electrical Testing & Commissioning Position Summary United Power Services is seeking a motivated and safety-focused NETA Field Service Technician to support electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting projects across industrial facilities, substations, and data centers. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in power systems testing who enjoys travel, problem-solving, and working in critical power environments. The ideal candidate will have experience performing acceptance and maintenance testing on medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment while following NETA, IEEE, and manufacturer standards. Responsibilities
Perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power systems and equipment
Conduct acceptance and maintenance testing on breakers, transformers, relays, switchgear, cables, and protective devices
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams
Complete detailed field service reports and testing documentation
Utilize testing equipment such as meggers, ducters, TTRs, relay test sets, and infrared equipment
Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NETA, and company standards
Support outage planning, startup, and commissioning activities
Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, and field teams
Travel to customer sites as needed
Qualifications
Previous experience in electrical testing, commissioning, or field service
NETA certification preferred (Level II or higher strongly preferred)
Experience with medium- and high-voltage equipment
Understanding of protective relays, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documents
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Ability to travel as required for projects
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Preferred Experience
Data center or substation testing experience
PowerDB or similar reporting software experience
NFPA 70E training/certifications
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
