About the role

Operations Manager — Finance & AI-Enabled Back-Office Thurion Capital · Hybrid -
Preferred locations: Tampa FL, Indiana, VA/DC area
We're a Special Forces veteran-owned dual-use services platform that is rapidly expanding and adding portfolio companies. We're looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed operator to run our finance and back-office, and to do it in a new way: with AI agents handling the repetitive work and you in control of every result. If you know government-contract back-office and you're genuinely excited to work alongside AI, this is a rare ground-floor seat reporting straight to the CEO.
What you'll own
  • Payroll across two companies (including Service Contract Act / certified payroll where applicable)
  • Government invoicing and contract billing — WAWF/PIEE, CLIN reconciliation, cost-reimbursable / T&M / firm-fixed-price
  • Day-to-day bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliations, and month-end close (DCAA-aware, with a fractional controller backstopping indirect rates and audits)
  • Building and supervising AI agent workflows that automate data entry, reconciliations, invoice prep, and reporting — and certifying every output
  • Executive-assistant / chief-of-staff support to the CEO
  • Back-office process improvement and post-merger integration onto unified, compliant systems

What you bring
  • 2+ years in finance, accounting, or operations, with hands-on payroll and bookkeeping
  • A track record of owning compliance-critical work without errors slipping through
  • Real enthusiasm for AI tools — and the discipline to verify everything before you stand behind it
  • Strong organization, sound judgment, and discretion with sensitive financial and personnel data
  • Desire to make an impact and be a leader in a people-first, mission-focused enterprise.

Bonus points
  • Government-contracting back-office experience (DCAA accounting, WAWF/PIEE invoicing, SAM.gov, SCA)
  • Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or JAMIS — or QuickBooks in a govcon setting
  • CMMC / NIST 800-171 / Microsoft 365 GCC High familiarity
  • Hands-on with Copilot Studio, Power Automate, or similar automation/agent tools

Why this role You'll build the AI-augmented operating model for a growing platform — not maintain someone else's. High ownership, direct CEO access, and the operating model you build becomes a repeatable capability across the portfolio.
