Our challenge
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Oracle and SQL databases, with expertise in performance tuning, stored procedures, triggers, and automation. The candidate should also be proficient in Unix/Linux environments, including Autosys job scheduling, PuTTY, and Unix BASH scripting.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $95k - $105k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases to support business applications.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Develop, test, and deploy stored procedures, functions, and triggers to ensure data integrity and automation.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
  • Automate routine tasks and workflows using Autosys and Unix BASH scripting.
  • Manage database backup, recovery, and security procedures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database schema and queries.
  • Use PuTTY and other SSH tools for remote server management and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for critical database environments.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in Oracle and SQL Server database administration and development.
  • Strong knowledge of performance tuning and query optimization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with stored procedures, triggers, and database scripting.
  • Familiarity with Autosys job scheduling and workflow automation.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting with BASH.
  • Experience with remote server access using PuTTY or similar tools.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred, but not required:
  • Certifications in Oracle or SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions.
  • Knowledge of other scripting or programming languages.
