This role drives a proactive safety culture through strategic planning, consistent field engagement, and the anticipation, recognition, and assessment of critical risks and associated controls. The Superintendent will also monitor and ensure compliance across primarily underground construction, development, and mining activities.This role is based at the Hermosa Project Site, near Patagonia, Arizona. Other Key Responsibilities Include, But Arent Limited To
Collaborate with health and safety professionals to support
implementation and continuous improvement of Health and Safety Management Systems and Programs
Develop team members on sustainable growth paths to support Hermosa
operational state
Develop dynamic HSS operating systems through project to operational
state to global standards and expectations.
Support and collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to align
with site safety management systems
In consultation with the South32 Training Team, facilitate the
development and improvement of mandatory regulatory training.
Support and coach risk management techniquesto S32 team and
contracting partners.
Support emergency management systems, exercises, and improvements
throughout the project to operational state.
Provide oversight, guidance, review, or facilitation of events using
systematic Incident, Cause, Analysis Method of (iCAM) approaches to investigations.
Build and implement assurance tasks to continually improve hazard
recognition and risk management
Ensure all activities comply with Federal, State, and company health
and safety regulations
Ensure tracking and reporting of safety performance metrics (leading
