The Manager, Executive Compensation and Benefits serves as the organization’s subject-matter expert for executive-level compensation, incentive, and benefits programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, governance integrity, and market competitiveness. This role leads the design, administration, and execution of executive compensation processes, including board-related activities, incentive programs, executive benefits, and compliance reporting. Working in close partnership with Finance, Legal, Tax, HRIS, and external consultants, the role provides strategic analytics, modeling, and executive-ready insights to support high-impact compensation decisions.
The Manager, Executive Compensation and Benefits is responsible for the end-to-end governance and administration of executive compensation and benefits programs for senior leaders, including the CEO, executive leadership team, and other key executives. This role leads annual and ongoing executive compensation processes such as incentive payout cycles, market benchmarking, executive benefits administration, severance modeling, Form 990 coordination, and physician FMV oversight. The role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations related to executive compensation, nonqualified plans, Top-Hat rules, and tax requirements through disciplined documentation, audit-ready processes, and close collaboration with Legal and Tax partners. The incumbent oversees executive compensation analytics and modeling, supports Board and Compensation Committee activities, and prepares executive-level reporting and presentations. Continuous improvement, automation, and process optimization across executive compensation programs are key expectations of the role.
Responsibilities: Strategic Partnership – Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, Finance, Legal, and Tax by providing expert guidance on executive compensation, benefits, incentive structures, and governance decisions. Program Execution & Operational Excellence – Lead the accurate and timely execution of all executive compensation and benefits programs, including AIP/LTIP cycles, executive benefits administration, severance calculations, and payroll coordination. Governance, Risk & Compliance Management – Ensure ongoing compliance with executive compensation regulations, nonqualified plan requirements, tax laws, and audit standards, maintaining detailed documentation and controls. Analytics, Insights & Decision Support – Deliver rigorous compensation modeling, market benchmarking, internal equity analysis, and executive level reporting to inform leadership and Board decisions. Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization – Identify and implement workflow enhancements, automation opportunities, and best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and governance across executive compensation programs. Collaborates – Builds strong, trust based partnerships across Finance, Legal, Tax, HRIS, Payroll, Treasury, and external consultants to deliver aligned outcomes. Communicates Effectively – Translates complex compensation concepts into concise, executive ready messaging for senior leaders and Board stakeholders. Other Requirements : 5 years of progressively responsible Compensation or Total Rewards experience, including Executive Compensation, Incentive Administration, or Compensation Governance. Remote Position Locations: This position can be hybrid in Virginia Beach, Virginia or Remote.
