**Job Summary: **

The Pharmacist-in-Charge will further the Seager Memorial Clinic’s mission of providing free, easy-access, non-judgmental, charitable medical, dental, vision and mental health care to the underserved, by managing the pharmacy department and ensuring the safe compliant and efficient provision of pharmaceutical services to our patients.

It is important to note that the specific duties of the Pharmacist-in-Charge may vary and may overlap with those of the volunteer pharmacist on duty. Regardless of these variations, strict adherence to all state pharmacy laws and regulatory requirements is essential in every aspect of this role.

**Responsibilities: **

- **Pharmacy Operations Management: **

- Overseeing day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including dispensing medications, inventory management.

- Supervising pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians.

- Maintaining accurate records of prescriptions filled, inventory levels.

- Ensuring that pharmacy operations comply with federal and state laws, regulations for a Class A Charitable pharmacy.

- Keep Formulary updated with provider input on at annual basis

- Ensure the pharmacy is clean and organized.

- Schedule pharmacy volunteers to ensure appropriate coverage.

- **Patient Care and Counseling: **

- Providing medication counseling and education to patients  and providers regarding proper medication use, potential side effects, and interactions.

- **Quality Assurance and Compliance: **

- Conducting quality assurance activities, such as medication error tracking and reporting, outdating, temp tracking and security alarm reports to ensure patient safety.

- Implementing and maintaining pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

- Participating in audits and inspections by regulatory agencies and taking corrective actions as needed.

- **Customer Service: **

- Ensuring high levels of customer service.

- Addressing concerns from pharmacy volunteers and others in a timely manner.

- **Staff Development and Training, and Recruitment: **

- Providing training and on-boarding for new volunteers.

- Organizing at a minimum one yearly staff meeting.

- Fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment to maximize team effectiveness.

- Recruiting new pharmacists and technicians to the volunteer pool.

- Work with Clinic Manager to ensure proper volunteer staffing levels and coordinate work schedules.

- **Continuous Improvement: **

- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement within the pharmacy.

- Implementing measures to optimize workflow and productivity.

- Implement and enforce quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy in dispensing.

- **Training and Development: **

- Train new pharmacy volunteers and provide ongoing training for existing staff.

- Keep the team updated on changes in pharmacy regulations and procedures.

- **Workflow Management: **

- Oversee and manage the workflow in the pharmacy to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

- Coordinate with other pharmacy volunteers to optimize workflow and address any challenges.

- **Inventory Management: **

- Oversee the ordering, receiving, outdating and stocking of medications and supplies.

- Monitor inventory levels and implement procedures to prevent shortages or overstock.

- **Compliance and Regulation: **

- Stay current on state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.

- Ensure that the pharmacy and staff comply with all legal requirements.

- **Communication: **

- Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals.

- Participate in pharmacy volunteer meetings.

- Collaborate with the pharmacy team and other Seager staff  to find solutions to operational issues.

**Required Qualifications: **

- State licensure in Utah as a pharmacist

**Compensation: **

- $65/hour, 12 hours per week ($40,560/year), plus up to another $5,000/year in bonuses based on accomplishment of specific defined goals.

- Hours are fixed and in person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2-6 PM, closed holidays.

- Malpractice insurance will be provided.

- **Potential for Expanded Hours: **As the clinic grows, this role may expand to 15–20 hours per week within the next 1–2 years, subject to operational needs and available funding.

- Employees are eligible to receive Paid Time Off (PTO) to cover required work days in the clinic (3 days per week). PTO may be used for vacation, personal time, illness, or any other approved time away from work.

- Accrual Schedule:

- 0-12 Months of Employment: Employees receive 6 clinic days (equivalent to 2 weeks) of PTO

- +1 Year of Employment: PTO will increase to 9 clinic days (equivalent to 3 weeks) per year

- Use: PTO must be used to cover scheduled time off for vacation, illness, or other personal reasons. Employees are encouraged to schedule PTO in advance when possible, in accordance with clinic scheduling needs.
