About the role

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides quality hands on support and expertise with emphasis on activities related to supplier quality and modernizations for our service department.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs internal and external (supplier) visits and audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications for the service, project management, and purchasing groups.
  • Develops supplier’s capabilities to insure ANDRITZ Schuler standards and requirements can be met.
  • Responsible as the key liaison between ANDRITZ Schuler and suppliers, ensuring that overall specifications, quality requirements, and expectations are met for all purchased products.
  • Visiting vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess in process material to determine if timing targets can be met.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on drawings that are incorrect, incomplete or need clarification.
  • Works with service personnel and suppliers to proactively identify, and if necessary, resolve critical issues.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for identifying non-conforming parts, materials and products, and determines disposition options.
  • Responsible for entering non-conformities into SAP when issues are found.
  • Performing regular quality control audits to ensure vendors are capable of meeting Schuler quality requirements.
  • Develop supplier metrics to identify problem suppliers and develop improvement plans to improve performance.
  • Creates productive relationships with suppliers and vendors through proactive communication, active responses, personal visits.
  • Willingness to learn about capital equipment, i.e., presses and related machinery.
  • Performs other quality control functions as necessary or as requested.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong background in machined and fabricated products
  • Associate’s degree in related field and/or Five (5) years of related experience.
  • Must be willing to travel, on a regular basis, to local suppliers in North America, as needed.
  • Ability to read and understand product specifications, blueprints and engineering standards.
  • Able to use inspection gages such as micrometers, calipers and indicators.
  • Able to analyze data and present and create reports.
  • Able to support organization’s Quality Management systems in line with standards.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • SAP knowledge is helpful.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Works closely with Engineering, Service, Project Management, Purchasing and suppliers in support of overall quality and process improvement for the service organization.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
