RF Antenna Engineer – Defense & Aerospace (Contract) Contract Pay Rate: $60/hour ( Flexible ) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced RF Antenna Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and evaluation of advanced antenna and RF systems for defense and aerospace applications. This role requires hands-on experience with antenna theory, antenna testing, and RF system troubleshooting in highly technical environments. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and analyze RF and antenna systems for defense and aerospace platforms, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, and frequency conversion systems.
Support integration of RF systems into aircraft, satellites, unmanned systems, and ground-based platforms.
Conduct antenna and RF testing to validate system performance, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
Develop and execute antenna test procedures, including short-field and range testing activities.
Troubleshoot RF performance issues such as interference, signal degradation, noise, and power limitations, and implement corrective solutions.
Perform frequency planning and spectrum management activities to optimize RF system performance.
Prepare technical documentation including test procedures, system specifications, design documentation, and engineering reports.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers to ensure successful product integration.
Maintain knowledge of current RF engineering standards, defense/aerospace regulations, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or related technical field.
Strong understanding of antenna theory and RF system fundamentals.
Hands-on experience with antenna testing, antenna ranges, and short-field testing.
Experience creating and documenting RF/antenna test procedures.
Proficiency with RF design and simulation tools such as MATLAB, ADS (Advanced Design System), CST Microwave Studio, or similar.
Experience using RF test and measurement equipment including:
Network analyzers
Spectrum analyzers
Signal generators
Oscilloscopes
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex RF system issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance may be required.
