Role Description
This is a contract hybrid role for a Mechanical Engineer, based in Devens, MA, with flexibility for partial remote work. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems, contributing to research and development efforts, utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) tools, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role also includes project management responsibilities to ensure timely delivery of engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:✅ Create and manage CAD models and engineering drawings
✅ Develop and improve existing mechanical hardware designs
✅ Design sheet metal parts and multi-part assemblies using Onshape
✅ Create detailed GD&T fabrication drawings (ASME Y14.5)
✅ Generate and manage BOMs, assemblies, and engineering revisions
✅ Support documentation control and ECR processes
✅ Review assemblies and BOMs for manufacturability and accuracy
✅ Support assembly documentation, maintenance guides, and operator manuals
Required Skills:✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
✔ 2–4 years of experience in Robotics, Automotive, Automation, or similar industries
✔ Strong CAD experience (Onshape preferred / SolidWorks / Creo)
✔ Knowledge of GD&T, welding processes, and manufacturing methods
✔ Experience with sheet metal design and assemblies
✔ Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
✔ Hands-on prototyping/testing experience preferred
✔ Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
