Role Description The Automation/Machine Build Technician will support the build, setup, troubleshooting, and installation of custom automated manufacturing systems at our Bay City, MI facility. This hands-on role includes machine assembly, system checkout, and supporting final testing to ensure equipment meets internal and customer specifications. The position also involves startup support at customer facilities, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled systems, and working closely with Engineering to implement improvements and resolve issues. Qualifications
Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled automation systems
Working knowledge of PLC platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Allen-Bradley)
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and fluid power schematics
Experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Experience with machine build, assembly, or automated equipment preferred
Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites for installation and startup
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred:
Experience making basic PLC logic modifications
Exposure to HMI systems and machine startup
Technical certification or Associate’s degree in a related field
