2. About the Opportunity:The Network Engineer - Mid-level will support the DHS OneNet engineering and network architecture under the DHS Homeland Security Enterprise Network (HSEN) Engineering Support Services contract. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing complex physical and virtual network infrastructures, troubleshooting and optimizing network performance, and supporting various technologies including Cisco routing/switching, F5 load-balancers, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco SD-WAN. This position contributes to solution design, technology refresh, cloud integration projects, and advanced incident management.
3. Responsibilities:• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, supporting end-users and IT staff.
• Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Plan and execute network and virtualization projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery within budget.
• Troubleshoot network incidents, perform root cause analysis, and document in ServiceNow and MS SharePoint.
• Participate in night work for network Change Requests and join on-call rotation for escalated incidents.
• Collaborate with industry vendors to align current and future requirements.
4. Requirements:• BA/BS in a relevant field or equivalent IT experience.
• Minimum 4 years of network engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, VRF).
• Experience creating design documentation, diagrams, and project deliverables.
• Ability to learn and adapt to complex, dynamic network environments.
• Residence within approximately 50 miles of the national capital area (DC, NOVA, MD).
• Proficiency in written and verbal English.
• Successful completion of federal background check, MVR, and drug screening.
• Compliance with drug and alcohol policies.
• Authorization to work in the US by start date.
Certifications Desired:• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• CCNPE
• Security+
Software/Hardware Desired:• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams).
• Experience creating network diagrams in MS Visio.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:• Expected salary range is $100,000 - $115,000 per year.
• Compensation and benefits may vary based on education, experience, skills, internal equity, and location.
