2. About the Opportunity:The Merchandise Manager is responsible for managing and achieving the financial goals of the RAGBRAI merchandise program. This role drives product strategy, planning, and buying to enhance product quality, efficiency, and profitability. It oversees merchandise operations across online and live event retail channels, working closely with Marketing and Creative teams to deliver cohesive and impactful merchandise assortments.
3. Responsibilities:• Set revenue targets and inventory strategies based on sales data and market insights.
• Collaborate with the Event Director to develop and manage merchandise budgets and forecasts.
• Oversee the purchasing process from order to delivery.
• Create financial models to monitor sales performance and adjust forecasts.
• Conduct post-event financial analysis including sales and margin evaluations.
• Identify ways to optimize inventory and reduce excess stock.
• Maintain organized financial records for merchandise orders.
• Manage the annual merchandise calendar in alignment with marketing schedules.
• Develop product assortments with the Creative team that align with brand identity and customer demand.
• Determine product mix, pricing, and inventory levels, updating cost projections as needed.
• Source products meeting quality, aesthetic, trend, and cost criteria.
• Manage product development timelines and vendor relationships.
• Administer the online merchandise store via Shopify, including product listings and promotions.
• Ensure online product pages are accurate and optimized.
• Coordinate product launches with marketing campaigns.
• Monitor ecommerce metrics to improve sales and conversion rates.
• Work with event staff to facilitate retail operations at live events.
• Manage inventory and customer interactions during events.
• Implement retail strategies to maximize sales and enhance customer experience.
• Represent the brand and its partners positively at events.
• Collaborate with Marketing to promote merchandise across channels.
• Support merchandise storytelling and promotional initiatives.
• Provide insights to inform future merchandise and marketing strategies.
4. Requirements:• 3–4 years of experience in retail merchandising, planning, or buying.
• Experience with revenue optimization.
