Cell Line Engineer (Contract – 1 Year + Extension) Location: Worcester, MA Pay: $45–46/hr target Position Summary We are seeking a Cell Line Engineer to join the Cell Line Engineering group within Biotherapeutics Discovery. This role focuses on mammalian cell culture, cell line engineering, and cell-based assay development supporting therapeutic discovery programs. The individual will work under the supervision of a senior scientist and contribute to execution-heavy wet lab work, including cell line development, genome engineering, and assay support, along with lab organization and inventory management. Key Responsibilities
Mammalian cell culture (immortalized, cancer, and primary cell lines)
Development and maintenance of engineered cell lines for antibody discovery and assay development
Cell line engineering (KO, KI, OE)
Cell-based assays and functional biology experiments
Flow cytometry (FACS analysis and cell sorting)
Receptor density and protein expression analysis
DNA construct design and molecular cloning support
Use of fluorescent and luminescent assay systems
CRISPR-based gene editing (preferred but highly valued)
Lab operations support (inventory management, ordering, materials organization)
Cell line banking, expansion, and coordination across sites
Digitization and organization of cell line inventory systems
Required Qualifications
2–5+ years of industry experience (required)
Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (2–3+ years required)
Proven experience in cell line development / engineering (required)
At least 1+ year of flow cytometry experience (required)
Experience with cell-based assays
Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to contribute immediately in a fast-paced lab environment
Preferred Qualifications
CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing experience (1+ year strongly preferred)
Experience with genome engineering (KO/KI/OE)
Prior biotech/pharma industry experience (preferred over academic)
