Experience: Previous training and experience within a complex University Environment, specifically within an Information Technology staff.
Methodological Flexibility: Training and prior experience delivering projects using:
Waterfall: Comprehensive documentation, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation.
Agile: Scrum/Kanban frameworks, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery.
Hybrid: Integrating Agile development into a Waterfall procurement or governance structure.
Technical Proficiency: TeamDynamix ( TDX ) or similar enterprise PPM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Planview), Power BI report generation.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field.
Certification: Working towards PMP (Project Management Professional) and/or CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certification.
Desired Qualifications Position Purpose We are seeking an assistant IT Project Manager to join our Project Management Office ( PMO ). With previous university project management training and experience, you will work with the PMO leader to support enterprise-wide initiatives that modernize our campus technology landscape. This role isn’t just about tracking tasks; it’s about navigating the unique complexities of higher education, balancing the needs of diverse academic and administrative stakeholders, and delivering robust IT solutions. You will work with the Directors of the various UTS departments to manage their diverse portfolio of projects ranging from infrastructure upgrades to software implementations, utilizing TeamDynamix ( TDX ) as our primary project portfolio management tool. Job Duties
Portfolio Support: Drive multiple high-priority IT projects simultaneously, ensuring they remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with the University’s strategic goals.
Methodology Mastery: Apply Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid methodologies based on the specific needs of the project. You will be expected to pivot between structured phase-gate approaches for infrastructure and iterative sprints for software development.
Stakeholder Diplomacy: Act as a bridge between IT technical teams and University Department Staff.
TDX Administration: Utilize TeamDynamix for project intake, resource leveling, time tracking, “Lessons Learned” sessions, communication plans and executive-level reporting.
