Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update engineering drawings in accordance with our Quality Management System
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate mechanical and optical designs
- Conduct experiments and testing to validate design concepts and troubleshoot issues
- Develop detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to machining vendors and suppliers

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for complex system design
- Working knowledge of optical principles and integration of optical components into mechanical systems
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools (e.g., FEA – Finite Element Analysis)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information
- Highly detail-oriented with strong project management capabilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing optical instruments (e.g., spectrometers, imaging systems)
- Experience specifying and working with fiber optic assemblies
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing opto-mechanical systems
- Knowledge of fluid flow principles and piping assemblies
- Familiarity with instrumentation used in hazardous environments (e.g., IECEx standards)
