Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in SolidWorks. Experience in opto-mechanical design and designing for hazardous environments is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, along with hands-on experience designing and implementing opto-mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update engineering drawings in accordance with our Quality Management System
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate mechanical and optical designs
  • Conduct experiments and testing to validate design concepts and troubleshoot issues
  • Develop detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to machining vendors and suppliers

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for complex system design
  • Working knowledge of optical principles and integration of optical components into mechanical systems
  • Experience with simulation and analysis tools (e.g., FEA – Finite Element Analysis)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong project management capabilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing optical instruments (e.g., spectrometers, imaging systems)
  • Experience specifying and working with fiber optic assemblies
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing opto-mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of fluid flow principles and piping assemblies
  • Familiarity with instrumentation used in hazardous environments (e.g., IECEx standards)
