**About The Role**

Mytra’s robotics team is developing next-generation warehouse automation using physics-based, first-principles design. We are seeking a Robotics Controls Engineer to architect and implement advanced motion control systems that integrate sensing, perception, and actuation into reliable, high-performance robotic platforms. This role spans real-time embedded software, communication architecture, and control algorithm design to deliver precise, safe, and efficient robot motion in complex environments. You will work across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines to push the boundaries of warehouse robotics.

**Responsibilities**

- Architect and implement motion control frameworks for multi-axis robotic systems, including actuator control, trajectory generation, and dynamic path execution

- Design and integrate communication architectures for distributed controllers, sensors, and actuators, including pub/sub messaging frameworks (e.g., NATS, ROS2, custom protocols)

- Develop, simulate, and tune control algorithms for position, velocity, torque, and force control, incorporating model-based techniques and Kalman filter–based state estimation

- Lead sensor fusion and localization efforts to ensure robust, real-time state estimation in both simulated and physical environments

- Define motor and sensor strategies, including hardware selection, calibration, and diagnostics, to meet performance, safety, and scalability requirements

- Build and maintain simulation and automated test tools to prototype new control strategies, validate them in CI/CD, and translate them into production-ready implementations

- Iterate between simulation and hardware testing to diagnose corner cases, improve algorithms, and ensure robustness in diverse real-world conditions

- Deliver high-quality, maintainable code in C++ and Python for real-time and high-level control systems

**Qualifications**

- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or related field

- Strong background in control theory, kinematics, dynamics, and system modeling for electromechanical systems

- Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Python for embedded and high-level control software

- Demonstrated ability to balance control system complexity with simplicity, elegance, and robustness in production implementations

- Experience with motor control (BLDC, stepper, servo), sensor integration (eg. encoders, IMUs, cameras), and real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, RT Linux, Zephyr)

- Familiarity with CAN, pub/sub communication frameworks, distributed control architectures, and safety-critical system design standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508)

- Ability to debug and optimize complex electromechanical systems with limited telemetry, using both software and hardware tools

- Demonstrated experience in approaching challenges with a physics-based, first-principles mindset to develop innovative solutions

Senior Robotics Controls Engineer

**About The Role**

Mytra's Systems Engineering team is seeking a Robotics Systems Engineer to architect, debug, and operationally support our autonomous robotic systems across both product and infrastructure domains. As a Systems Integration Engineer, you'll be the technical authority for complex system-level challenges, providing expert debugging and operational support for our mobile autonomous systems. You'll work at the intersection of hardware and software, ensuring robust performance of robotic systems in demanding warehouse environments, while supporting scalable infrastructure for fleet operations.

**Responsibilities**

- Lead critical system debugging as the technical authority, conducting root-cause analysis of complex failures involving physical mechanisms, embedded devices, UNIX OSes, and radio networking

- Own fix implementations and new feature rollouts, providing technical leadership from discovery through implementation

- Design observability and support features to improve the health monitoring, diagnostics, and remote intervention capabilities of the deployed fleet

- Drive improvement in Mytra’s issue capture, analytics, and reporting pipeline, to maintain a deep understanding of how issues impact and inform engineering priority

- Ensure the operational health of early-stage prototype fleets, working side-by-side with test engineers and software developers to keep test platforms operating and engineering progress unblocked

**Qualifications**

- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a systems engineer, mechatronics engineer, field engineer, or similar role, including direct experience in the development and deployment of mobile autonomous systems

- Strong understanding of core robotics engineering concepts including BLDC motor control, sensing technology, embedded communication protocols, and state-space control

- Basic experience with Python, for scripting, data analysis, and software debugging

- Capability to perform highly hands-on electro-mechanical prototyping, harness assembly, and mechanical inspections

- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, related field, or equivalent work experience

**Preferred Qualifications**

- You have expert-level debugging experience, with a passion for systematically diagnosing complex system failures across hardware-software interfaces

- You can lead cross-functional technical initiatives, translating complex systems challenges into actionable engineering tasks, while mentoring junior engineers on system-level thinking

- You're excited about solving novel challenges in warehouse automation, building systems that operate reliably in unstructured environments with minimal human intervention
