ABOUT MUNICIPAL APPAREL COMPANY Municipal Apparel Company is a dynamic and growing footwear and apparel brand committed to quality craftsmanship and community-driven design. Our mission is to create a global movement of inspired people who never stop pursuing their full potential. As we scale our brand and customer base, we are investing in world-class growth infrastructure to accelerate our path to market leadership. This role represents a rare opportunity to own the growth engine of a company at a pivotal inflection point. ABOUT THE ROLE Municipal Apparel is seeking a Director of Growth & Performance Marketing to lead our transition from a scaling startup to a market leader. This is a “Player-Coach” role: we are looking for a strategic architect who is equally comfortable building a 3-year growth roadmap as they are diving into the weeds to optimize a campaign, set up a tracking pixel, or troubleshoot a funnel bottleneck. As a key member of our leadership team, you will move beyond tactical execution to build a scalable, data-driven growth machine — but you must be prepared to remain hands-on during this critical scale-up phase. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Growth Architecture
Define the high-level growth strategy, moving beyond ad-hoc campaigns to a repeatable framework for acquisition, activation, retention, referral, and revenue
Identify and prioritize the highest-leverage growth levers across paid, organic, and brand channels
Translate business objectives into measurable growth initiatives with clearly defined KPIs and accountability structures
Hands-On Execution & Campaign Management
Remain deeply involved in daily operations during our current growth phase, including personally managing high-impact campaigns
Audit channel performance regularly and take corrective action with speed and precision
Troubleshoot tech stack issues, tracking gaps, and funnel bottlenecks alongside your team
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Hire, mentor, and lead a growing team of marketing specialists across performance, content, and lifecycle disciplines
Build a culture of experimentation, intellectual curiosity, and rigorous measurement
Professionalize marketing processes and establish clear operating rhythms across the team
Budget & P&L Ownership
Take full ownership of the marketing budget, balancing CAC/LTV ratios to ensure profitable and sustainable growth
Manage spend allocation across paid, organic, and brand channels with a focus on efficiency and ROI
Report to executive leadership on marketing performance, investment priorities, and growth forecasts
Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as the primary growth partner to Product and Sales, influencing the product roadmap to prioritize growth-by-design features
Optimize the end-to-end sales funnel in partnership with Sales to drive higher conversion rates
Act as a connector between creative, analytics, and commercial teams to ensure alignment across all growth initiatives
MarTech Stack & Attribution
Oversee the selection, governance, and optimization of the company’s MarTech stack
Lead the organization’s shift toward advanced attribution modeling and automated marketing orchestration
Ensure data hygiene, pixel integrity, and measurement infrastructure are in place to support confident decision-making
QUALIFICATIONS Required
8+ years of progressive experience in growth, performance, or digital marketing with a demonstrated track record in a fast-paced, scaling environment
Proven ability to transition marketing functions from scrappy startup execution to institutionalized, repeatable systems
Deep proficiency in data storytelling, P&L management, and advanced marketing analytics; a SQL-first approach to problem-solving
“Player-Coach” mindset: executive presence to report directly to the CEO, with zero ego about rolling up your sleeves for hands-on campaign work
Experience managing and scaling paid media budgets across Meta, Google, TikTok, and programmatic channels
Strong command of marketing attribution tools, pixel implementation, and conversion tracking infrastructure
Preferred
Experience at a direct-to-consumer brand in footwear, apparel, or lifestyle categories
Background in lifecycle/CRM marketing, including email, SMS, and retention strategy
Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation culture
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a quantitative field
WHAT WE OFFER
Competitive base salary of $145,000 – $185,000, commensurate with experience and scope of budget oversight
Performance-based bonus tied to growth metrics
Direct access and influence at the executive level, with a clear seat at the leadership table
A fast-moving, collaborative team culture that values experimentation and results over process for its own sake
