About This Role
The Relief Scheduling Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring our hospitals have the veterinarian provider coverage they need to deliver exceptional patient care. You'll serve as the strategic liaison between hospital leaders, relief DVMs, and third-party providers—combining white-glove service with data-driven decision-making to optimize staffing and costs across our 850+ hospital network.
Our Relief Scheduling Specialists drive strategic workforce management, not just scheduling. You'll execute enterprise and local operations strategies, uncover insights hidden in relief provider data, and directly impact the most important driver of our organic revenue growth: having the right veterinarian in the right place at the right time.
If you're someone who thrives on solving complex puzzles, building relationships, and using data to drive real business outcomes, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a measurable impact in a growing part of our business.
What You'll Do
Strategic Coordination & Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for hospital leaders, relief DVMs, and third-party relief partners, establishing trusted relationships built on responsiveness and results
  • Partner with Hospital Managers, Operations Analysts, and Field Leadership to understand relief staffing needs and ensure timely, cost-effective fulfillment
  • Act as a white-glove liaison, going above and beyond to support urgent hospital needs while balancing enterprise priorities

Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Leverage analytics and insights to negotiate optimal shift rates and terms with third-party, independent, and internal relief providers
  • Identify and surface previously unknown data quality issues and staffing patterns that inform strategic decisions
  • Research, monitor, and report how your decisions impact key stakeholders—translating findings into actionable process improvements across the shift lifecycle
  • Creatively expand data visibility to improve decision-making across our relief portfolio

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Become a subject matter expert on all relief scheduling tools and platforms, including our Relief Portal, Microsoft Suite, and relief vendor platforms
  • Champion innovative ideas that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the provider experience
  • Drive continuous improvement by examining your scheduled effectiveness and self-implementing lessons learned
  • Achieve KPIs and deliverables with a high standard of data quality and operational excellence

Collaboration & Problem-Solving
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities, balancing multiple urgent requests across regions and time zones
  • Use a combination of analysis, experience, and judgment to make decisions that consider broader departmental and organizational impacts
  • Support your team in problem-solving and decision-making, offering and seeking feedback to elevate collective performance

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of relevant work experience (coordination, scheduling, operations, analytics, or customer success roles)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills—you can build rapport with diverse stakeholders, from doctors to hospital leadership
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy
  • High level of computer literacy and comfort learning new platforms quickly
  • Self-starter mentality with demonstrated high work ethic and accountability

You'll Thrive In This Role If You
  • Enjoy being the "go-to" person who solves problems and delivers results under pressure
  • Get energized by building relationships and finding creative solutions that make people say "yes"
  • Like working with data to uncover insights and drive strategic recommendations
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and can balance competing priorities with grace
  • Treat others with empathy and respect, embodying our WAG values in everything you do
