- The role includes assessing, diagnosing, managing patient care, performing procedures, and collaborating with physicians in inpatient, outpatient, or ambulatory settings.
- Responsibilities also include patient education, psychosocial support, documentation, quality assurance, and professional development activities.
- Qualifications require graduation from an accredited program, relevant licensure (e.g., PA certification, NP licensure), and credentialing through the hospital's medical staff. Clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS/BLS are needed, and candidates may serve as preceptors or participate in research and quality projects.
