McDonald Jacobs PC Bookkeeper | Job Description McDonald Jacobs PC, an accounting firm located in downtown Portland, Oregon, is seeking a skilled Bookkeeper to join our Business Advisory Services (BAS) team. Position Description The Bookkeeper is a detail-oriented professional responsible for maintaining clients’ financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. They will be a direct support to our BAS team in the Assurance Department. The successful candidate will possess strong and reliable communication skills, attention to detail, and processing skills. Job Duties and Responsibilities (Daily and Monthly Responsibilities )
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
Maintain accurate financial records and daily transaction activity
Reconcile entries into the accounting system
Assist engagement teams with accounting functions, such as recording bank deposit, bank reconciliations, check batches, payroll, and part of month-end close processes
Prepare and assist with annual filings such as Form 1099s
Follow established firm and client workflows to ensure timely completion of recurring accounting tasks and month-end deliverables.
Skills and Qualifications
Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting (best practices, knowledge of U.S. GAAP)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), with aptitude to learn new software and systems
Strong data accuracy and entry skills when processing financial information
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with high production of accurate work
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to handle confidential information
Ability to always maintain professionalism
Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet recurring deadlines
Associates degree and/or at least one year of accounting experience
Physical Requirements
In-person requirement in line with firm/department policies (currently 3 days physical presence)
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer with multiple monitors
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
