For our client, we are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer Backend (data And Storage Services) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will lead technical work focused on cloud-enabled scalability, reliability, and delivery excellence. You will partner with business, technical, and operational stakeholders to build reporting, surface trends, and translate analysis into action. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen data-driven execution and help teams focus on the metrics that matter most within a regulated financial services environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $206,000 – $256,000 annually Responsibilities
Architect and enhance the company’s lakehouse analytics platform for high performance and scalability
Design secure RBAC and dynamic data masking policies in Snowflake for compliance and auditing
Lead analytics engineering practices, focusing on data modeling and transformation using dbt
Drive data governance and privacy initiatives utilizing tools like Atlan
Optimize costs associated with analytical compute and storage, including Snowflake tuning
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align data infrastructure with business needs
Establish best practices for large-scale lakehouse operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications
10+ years of software or data engineering experience with complex data platforms
6+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar analytical warehouses
Strong knowledge of Apache Iceberg, Spark, and cloud-native architectures on AWS
Proven experience with data transformation frameworks like dbt, focusing on best practices and CI/CD
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills for complex technical challenges
Proficiency in Python and SQL; Kotlin or Go experience is a plus
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities in cross-functional settings
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
