About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Data Infrastructure to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will lead technical work focused on cloud-enabled scalability, reliability, and delivery excellence. You will partner with business, technical, and operational stakeholders to build reporting, surface trends, and translate analysis into action. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen data-driven execution and help teams focus on the metrics that matter most within a regulated financial services environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $144,100 – $180,100 annually
Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver well-scoped project milestones as a technical lead when required
  • Lead design efforts for components, contributing to larger system designs
  • Ensure ownership of a data infrastructure component, focusing on reliability and performance
  • Identify technical gaps and propose actionable solutions
  • Write clear, well-tested, and adaptable code independently
  • Mentor less-experienced team members and enhance their technical skills
  • Engage in on-call support to maintain system reliability

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer; or 3 years with an advanced degree, or 8+ years relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong proficiency in Python in a production environment
  • Proficiency with SQL and experience with distributed systems
  • Proven expertise with core data technologies including Apache Kafka, Spark, and Airflow
  • Experience with modern table formats such as Parquet, Hudi, Iceberg, or Delta Lake
  • Production experience in AWS or a major cloud environment
  • Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
