KVD is hiring our first applications scientist. We're an MIT spinout commercializing KeVEELS, a retrofit detector stage that brings transmission-mode EELS to existing SEMs at a fraction of TEM cost. We're at Greentown Labs in Somerville, building our prototype for customer pilot deployment. We're looking for someone to join us as an advisor, with potential for a deeper role over time. The right person has:
PhD-level depth in EELS as a working technique, not a passing acquaintance
First-author publications where EELS is the central characterization method
Comfort with quantification (core-loss fitting, ELNES interpretation, multivariate analysis) and at least one of HyperSpy, DigitalMicrograph, or Velox
Applications experience across more than one material system. Battery materials, catalysis, transition metal oxides, and 2D materials are all squarely in our customer base.
Bonus: prior industry exposure at Gatan, Thermo Fisher, JEOL, Bruker, or a national lab user facility.
