About the role
KVD is hiring our first applications scientist.
We're an MIT spinout commercializing KeVEELS, a retrofit detector stage that brings transmission-mode EELS to existing SEMs at a fraction of TEM cost. We're at Greentown Labs in Somerville, building our prototype for customer pilot deployment.

We're looking for someone to join us as an advisor, with potential for a deeper role over time. The right person has:
- PhD-level depth in EELS as a working technique, not a passing acquaintance
- First-author publications where EELS is the central characterization method
- Comfort with quantification (core-loss fitting, ELNES interpretation, multivariate analysis) and at least one of HyperSpy, DigitalMicrograph, or Velox
- Applications experience across more than one material system. Battery materials, catalysis, transition metal oxides, and 2D materials are all squarely in our customer base.
- Bonus: prior industry exposure at Gatan, Thermo Fisher, JEOL, Bruker, or a national lab user facility.
- Boston-area candidates preferred.
