Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for the role, Equity Investment Analyst (Pharma & Biotech). Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required while a CFA designation or MBA are strongly preferred. Advanced scientific training (PhD, MD) is a plus. Qualifications:
Experience as an equity analyst for at least 8 or more years, specialized in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or managed care sectors.
Demonstrated investment track record based on rigorous fundamental analysis.
Deep understanding of financial markets, equity valuation, and long-term investing.
Self-motivated and able to operate independently within a collegial, team-based environment.
Independent analytical thinker with the ability to cover a broad universe of public equities.
Experience in pure independent valuation and analysis, without reliance on management access, sell-side research, or portfolio manager direction.
Clearly articulated analytical framework and a well-developed, repeatable investment process.
Experience presenting, defending, and validating investment recommendations to senior investors.
High comfort level in a performance-based investment environment.
Responsibilities:
Report directly to the Co-Directors of Research.
Contribute to internal equity investment funds across both Domestic and International portfolios.
Provide primary coverage of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and managed care equities as part of a ~20 analyst research team.
Perform fundamental research across a broad universe of domestic and international stocks spanning market capitalizations.
Independently assess companies using SEC filings, industry data, and other primary research sources.
Analyze income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, competitive positioning, industry structure, and qualitative risk factors.
Develop sector allocation and deployment strategies within specific GICS industry groups.
Prepare written investment theses and stock pitches prior to implementing active recommendations.
Succinctly summarize investment conclusions, including key risks and reasons to own.
Assess the long-term viability of companies and defend investment opinions to portfolio managers and peers.
Track individual performance against a customized benchmark.
Maintain an on-site presence a minimum of three days per week to support collaboration and team integration.
Prepare two-page board reports and concise written stock summaries using a professional business writing style.
