This job was posted by https://www.kansasworks.com : For more information, please see: https://www.kansasworks.com/jobs/13573480  r rClinical Assistant / Clinical Associate Professor - Large Animal Emergency r rKansas State University r rAbout This Role The Department of Clinical Sciences at Kansas State University invites applications for a clinical- or tenure-track appointment as Large Animal Emergency Clinician (LAEC) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This faculty position will join the current LAEC in the development of a Large Animal emergency / critical care rotation for students and provision of excellent emergency coverage for the Large Animal Teaching Hospital. The primary duties of the LAEC will be supervising overnight in-patient care and the treatment of afterhours emergencies presented to the VHC large animal clinic. Emergency coverage will encompass after hours emergency service and teaching/training clinical students on the management of equine and livestock (primarily cattle, but also small ruminants, camelids and swine) patients. Senior faculty from Equine and Livestock Services will provide consultation and back-up assistance to the LAEC, as needed. The LAEC will also work with veterinary students, house officers, technical staff and student employees. The Large Animal Hospital at KSU has two operating rooms and after-hours support from anesthesia and radiology services. A recently renovated receiving area is also available for treatment of all livestock species. Applicants must hold a D.V.M. or equivalent degree and have completed specialty training in Large Animal Internal medicine, Large Animal Surgery and/or Large Animal Emergency and Critical Care. Candidates eligible for board certification will be provided study time for examination preparation when appropriate. Candidates with long-term career goals in large animal emergency care are preferred. The distribution of effort for the LAEC will be based on the candidate\'s experience and career goals, but will consist predominately of clinical service with the opportunity to contribute to didactic and laboratory teaching or research endeavors.
