POSTION SUMMARY
The Conflicts Attorney is a member of the Conflicts & Business Intake Department.
This role includes the identification, analysis, and resolution of potential ethical and business conflicts of interest. In doing so, this role ensures the firm maintains ethical standards in accordance with professional responsibility rules and firm policies.
This position works closely with Conflicts Counsel and Director of Conflicts Services and Business Intake.
Should be available for on-call.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Review conflicts reports and further summarize issues that require further actions.
  • Analyze and resolve conflicts of interest issues under applicable professional responsibility rules and firm policies
  • Detail the actions required for requesting and affected partners, occasionally escalating to firm counsel
  • Draft and edit waiver language in coordination with attorneys and firm counsel
  • Oversee the conflicts clearance for lateral partner and associate hires.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Law degree from an accredited law school and an active Illinois bar license required
  • 2+ years of conflicts, risk, or compliance experience in a mid-large law firm
  • Working knowledge of professional responsibility rules (e.g. ABA Model Rules, applicable U.S. State and Federal, and international bar ethics)
  • Experience reviewing conflicts reports involving corporate structures, related entities, and prior representations
  • Experience using conflicts software (Intapp), research tools (D&B, CapIQ), etc.

The anticipated pay range for this role is $140,000-$165,000 in Chicago. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on several factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
