About the role
We are seeking a Senior Zscaler Engineer to lead enterprise-scale network security modernization initiatives with a strong emphasis on migrating from legacy Cisco security and remote access technologies to a cloud-first Zero Trust architecture. This role will partner closely with Infrastructure, Security Operations, Networking, and End User Services teams to design and execute secure migration strategies across a complex global environment.
The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with Zscaler platforms and a strong background replacing traditional Cisco VPN, proxy, and perimeter security solutions with modern SSE/SASE architectures.
Responsibilities
Lead migrations from Cisco-based remote access and security platforms into Zscaler solutions, including:Cisco AnyConnect
Cisco ASA
Cisco Firepower
Cisco Umbrella
Legacy web proxy infrastructure
Design and implement:Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA)
Zscaler Private Access (ZPA)
Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)
Cloud-delivered security policies
Secure internet breakout strategies
Develop phased migration and coexistence strategies for global enterprise environments
Partner with Network Engineering teams on:SD-WAN integrations
Traffic steering
GRE/IPSec tunnel configurations
DNS and PAC file strategies
Branch transformation initiatives
Build scalable authentication and identity integrations leveraging:SAML
MFA
Okta
Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD
Collaborate with Security Operations teams to implement:DLP policies
SSL inspection
Cloud app controls
Threat protection policies
User segmentation strategies
Troubleshoot complex connectivity, authentication, and policy enforcement issues across distributed environments
Create migration runbooks, architecture documentation, and operational standards
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Network Security or Security Engineering
3+ years of hands-on experience with Zscaler technologies
Strong experience migrating from Cisco security infrastructure into cloud-delivered security platforms
Deep knowledge of:VPN technologies
Proxies
Firewalls
DNS
TCP/IP
Routing and switching
Zero Trust architectures
Experience with:ZIA
ZPA
Client Connector
App Connectors
Traffic forwarding methods
SSL decryption
Strong background supporting large enterprise environments (5,000+ users preferred)
Experience integrating with:SIEM platforms
Identity providers
Endpoint security tools
Strong understanding of SASE/SSE concepts and modern enterprise security design
