The Core Model Development Team is a part of the Vehicle Architecture and Powertrain Matching (VA&M) Department which focuses on the definition of critical powertrain requirements along with advanced concept development for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis products.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO **

- Develop high-fidelity 1D thermal sub-system level models to support fuel economy and vehicle performance assessments.

**WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE **   **Basic Qualifications **

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field

- 3+ years of automotive engineering experience focused on powertrain development

- Extensive experience using 1D thermal simulation software, preferably GT-Suite, to support vehicle and powertrain development

- Demonstrated foundational knowledge of electrified powertrain components, including electric motors, power conversion systems, high voltage batteries, engines, transmissions, charging electronics, and control systems

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to clearly explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical collaborators

(HATCI) is looking for an engineer to join the Vehicle Control Technology Team of the Vehicle Control Software Department, which develops innovative features to enhance dynamics, controllability, and efficiency of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles for the North American (NA) market

**The Team: **

The Vehicle Control Technology Team is responsible for spearheading new vehicle motion control technology concepts for future generation vehicles for the NA market, expanding Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) vehicle control capabilities in coordination with the R&D Headquarters, developing prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations to various global teams within HMG for new Vehicle Control Software functions targeted for the NA market, developing and maintaining simulation environments that enable co-simulation of algorithms and virtual calibration optimization, identifying market trends and customer needs for selection of new concept ideas, and supporting the development and verification of software updates for the NA market

**The Position: **

**What You Will Do: **

- Engineer machine learning solutions to replace or augment physical sensors (e.g., estimating payload, trailer mass, and/or tire-road friction), reducing hardware costs and improving the driving experience in rugged conditions

- Design machine learning algorithms for high-stress systems used in towing or off-roading to predict component failures prior to occurrence, reducing downtime and maintenance costs

- Develop machine learning algorithms to enhance personalized customer experiences within vehicle control features, adapting to individual driving styles across different environments

- Research and develop AI-driven control strategies (by leveraging machine learning, reinforcement learning, and/or MPC) to optimize vehicle performance. Applications may include intelligent towing assist, terrain adaptation, and/or energy management.

- Adapt and optimize complex AI models for deployment onto embedded vehicle control units, ensuring real-time execution within automotive safety constraints

**CMF Designer **   The CMF designer supports the design team in developing and executing color, material, and finish strategies from initial concept through production.  This role contributes to translating design ideas into material and surface solutions that enhance both aesthetic quality and user experience. **Position Overview **

We are seeking a highly experienced innovative, detail oriented and self-driven Vehicle Emissions and OBD Fleet Validation Engineer to join our team in Chino, California. In this role you will support the validation of engine management and on-board diagnostics systems for pre-production vehicles that undergo extensive mileage accumulation and emissions durability testing. You will help ensure that our propulsion systems meet demanding emissions standards, operate with high reliability, and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with prototype vehicles, data intensive development programs, advanced calibration technologies, and cross-functional engineering teams. You will help shape the next generation of internal combustion, hybrid, and electrified propulsion systems through rigorous testing and data-driven insights.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO **

Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive validation activities for engine management, emissions, and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems utilizing pre-production vehicles deployed in long-term fleet testing programs. Ensure testing is executed in real-world operating conditions to support robustness, durability, and regulatory compliance objectives.

• Set up and configure advanced vehicle instrumentation, including data loggers and sensors, and continuously monitor fleet vehicles to ensure accurate data acquisition, data integrity, and reliable test execution throughout the test lifecycle.

• Lead complex and cross-disciplinary debugging activities involving hardware, embedded software, calibration, and full vehicle systems. Drive root cause identification through systematic investigation and collaboration with internal engineering teams.

• Analyze high-resolution, second-by-second vehicle data captured from data loggers to identify early indicators of component degradation, system malfunctions, calibration deficiencies, or emerging reliability risks before customer impact.

• Plan and conduct emissions testing at defined mileage accumulation intervals to verify emissions system durability, confirm compliance with applicable regulations, and ensure consistency with certification targets.

• Analyze exhaust and evaporative emissions data to determine root causes of failures or performance deviations. Develop and communicate proposed countermeasures and corrective actions to technical counterparts and management.

• Perform advanced data analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or equivalent platforms to extract trends, correlations, and actionable insights that support data-driven engineering decisions.

• Support fleet operation activities including calibration updates, software flashing, diagnostic evaluation, issue triage, and vehicle readiness assessments to ensure continuous fleet availability.

• Investigate high-occurrence and emerging warranty issues through data analysis, vehicle history review, and cross-functional collaboration to support long-term quality improvements.
