The Opportunity + Role: H+M is looking for an Account Director to join our dynamic team of professionals who seek to enable our clients to say the right thing, to the right audiences, in the right ways via the right mix of public relations channels in order to achieve the best, most optimal results. The individual who steps into this role should be a seasoned PR professional with varied expertise across such key disciplines as strategic planning and execution , team mentorship and management , client relations and counsel , messaging and content development , media approach and outreach , content creator outreach , integrated marketing communications ,corporate and executive positioning , and more. This individual will be responsible for actively leading and managing several account teams and they will report to the Senior Director for the team. The Account Director will play a key role in not just setting the strategic road map for our clients and working to help ensure we deliver meaningful results and outcomes, but also maintaining and enhancing the culture of teamwork and collaboration that has made H+M a special place for people to come together and work - and have fun, too. The individual who steps into this role will work remotely from their home office and be asked toparticipate in client meetings and support and staff events like movie premieres, press junkets, film screenings, celebrity meet and greets, influencer activations, and more. Provide senior-level account and program-specific planning and supervision for designated clients, managing the development of strategic plans and reports for those account teams.
Counsel and work with account teams to develop unique narratives to clarify each client’s value proposition and align their corporate, executive, and/or brand story with the news cycle.
Frequently advise and engage clients based on the external environment and their business goals, and empower teams to take immediate action on client feedback.
Serve as a strategic liaison among clients, account teams, and agency management, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of clients’ businesses and an ability to anticipate and address client needs across the group.
As needed, lead high-level media, influencer and/or partner relations by leveraging existing relationships, developing new ones, and managing contacts, with a focus on multicultural audiences.
Lead staff by mentoring, motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, holding them accountable and sharing ongoing feedback to aid in their professional development.
Partner with the Senior Director to lead operational and financial performance of account teams, ensuring quality work, effective processes, and that client requests are handled in a timely and strategic fashion.
Work with the Senior Director to supervise the management of account finances including accurate budget creation, allocation, and control; ensure budgets are accurate when presented to clients, manage our scope of work to those budgets and the budget tracker to ensure we stay on track.
Attend client meetings and staff virtual and in-person events like movie premieres, press junkets, film screenings, celebrity meet and greets, influencer activations, and more - often at night and on the weekend, and sometimes on holidays.
Requirements: To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the below requirements.
Acutely understands how to reach and engage a multicultural audience via public relations, and has a proven track record and experience in integrated and strategic communications across the entire paid, earned, shared, and owned spectrum.
Exemplifies excellent written and verbal communications skills , and has a proven track record of creating a variety of materials, plans, reports, and presentations. Ability to fluently communicate in English and Spanish is preferred.
Worked in the public relations industry for at least seven years , with a majority of that time spent working on national and regional campaigns for global brands and entities while at a public relations agency.
Demonstrates a strong aptitude and passion for public relations, and can seamlessly work across multiple disciplines and industries.
Based in the U.S. and able to staff and support virtual and in-person events asneeded.
Earned a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, English, or a related field of study from an accredited institution.
