The Market Strategy Director (MSD) is a senior leadership role responsible for setting and executing strategic growth initiatives at the business group level. The MSD is responsible for driving market expansion, organic growth, market penetration, and market strategies. HDR Engineering is looking for a Wastewater Engineer/Manager to join our growing team in either Denver, Fort Collins, or Colorado Springs.

HDR is seeking self-start candidates for a Wastewater Project Engineer to work as a member of our Water Business Group in Colorado. This position will be responsible for assisting in the growth and development of the Wastewater Market Sector in Colorado; which includes projects such as wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines and pump stations, solids treatment, and master planning. Primary responsibilities include advancing business development strategies, development and pursuit of new clients and new projects, project management, technical lead on projects, and staff development.

This position also includes scheduling work, providing training, and reviewing work. Requires an understanding of multidisciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction contract documents, design standards and practices, the ability to interact with multiple business groups (e.g. transportation, water/wastewater, permitting, and power and energy groups) across both local and regional HDR offices, facilitation of day-to-day business class or group activities in support of the wastewater lead, strong writing and oral skills, and a track record of completing work on time and within budget. Previous project/client management experience required.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

The primary responsibilities of the position include supporting the design of wastewater treatment related projects for federal, state and local municipalities. This position will require production of design calculations, technical reports, and preparation of construction documents. In the role of Wastewater Process Engineer/Manager, we'll count on you to:

- Evaluate emerging/embryonic technologies. Develop and implement piloting workplans on such technologies with strategic clients nationwide.

- Engage with our clients to discuss their needs and how HDR can assist them.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Minimum of 7 years’ experience designing and supporting implementation of wastewater projects. Strong technical background and experience in designing treatment systems, collection systems, and pump station projects.

- In the role of Senior Bridge Project Manager, we'll count on you to: Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline engineering projects or large, routine projects

- Foster and develop client relationships for yourself and your staff

- Independently coordinate work of engineers and balance planning team throughout entire project’s development

- Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings

- Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate or adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule

- Collaborate with peers and team members to create a cohesive practice

- Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects to ensure completion of documents on schedule

- Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable-stayed), box culvert, and

- interchange design for highway and railway projects

- Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development

- Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs

- Mentor younger staff and support continued development

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Structural Engineer in the State of Washington (or able to achieve reciprocity within 6 months)

- 20+ years of bridge design experience

- Familiarity with scheduling software such as MS Project

HDR is seeking an **East Region Alternative Delivery Lead ** within the Power Sector, Power Delivery Practice to be part of our national Alternative Delivery (AD) Leadership Team. Within HDR, AD consists of collaborative delivery models such as Design-Build (DB) / Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC), Progressive Design-Build (PDB), Construction Manager-General Contractor (CMGC) / Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and/or Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). This position will be involved with all aspects of our power delivery AD program. The successful candidate will drive collaboration between HDR’s global power delivery staff and our construction teaming partners, focusing on mitigating the inherent engineering risks associated with AD projects. The primary duties of this position include planning, pursuing, managing, and delivering all aspects of power delivery AD projects within the electric transmission, substation, distribution, and renewables (medium/high voltage) markets.

**Primary responsibilities include:**

- In collaboration with Power Sector AD Director, provide overall leadership and responsibility for elevating the power delivery AD program within HDR’s East Region, which includes Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.

- In collaboration with technical teams, review AD project intel, opportunities and RFPs to estimate technical investments prior to the Go/No-Go discussion.

- Assist in Go/No-Go discussions, project risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews, and negotiations as required.

- While working with pursuit teams, drive development of scope, schedule, and budget, with a focus on activities and risks unique to AD projects (e.g. procurement support, construction support, critical path scheduling, etc.).

- Provide AD best practice guidance to pursuit and project delivery teams.

- Collaborate with HDR regional and area operations leaders, market sector leaders, practice leaders, project managers, commercial managers, and project teams to deliver world-class quality in engineering, environmental, real estate, geospatial and construction support services for power delivery AD projects.

- Drive development of AD project teams, including AD project managers, technical leaders, project controls and commercial managers. Specific skillsets will be identified in coordination with the AD leadership team.

- Actively serve as a senior advisor during AD project execution. Provide project delivery support including contract administration and management.

- Serve as the Project Manager or Engineering Manager on select power delivery projects, including both AD and traditional design-bid-build delivery.

The preferred candidate would have experience in a combination of these subject areas.

Skills such as scripting (Python or VBA) and experience using HEC-RAS 1D/2D, HEC-HMS, HEC-ResSim, consequence modeling (LifeSim & HEC-FDA), linear programming and optimization would be considered beneficial.

The candidate is expected to be a key part of project delivery teams; mentor junior staff; manage small- to medium-sized projects; and effectively interact with clients and peers. In the role of Water Resources Management Market Sector Leader, we'll count on you to:

**Water Resource Management Growth and Strategy**

- Develop and drive a long-range Water Resource Management vision and strategy for HDR’s Southern California Area.

- Lead HDR’s Water Resource Management branding in Southern California Area by engaging in professional organizations allied to the water resource market.

- Responsibilities also include collaborating with other technical and marketing staff in the pursuit of new projects, taking a leadership role in selected key pursuits.

- Support the development of and provide reviews of scopes of work, fee estimate, project risk identification and project schedules.

- Work with area leadership to coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires and assist leadership as necessary with technical or project management hires.

- Identify technical gaps and support talent management and recruiting.

- Identity and apply Water Resource Management initiatives to the marketplace.

- Implement national Water Resource Management initiatives to marketplace.

- Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model in business and community organizations.

- Develop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations

- Client Management Activities.

- In alignment and in support of our Client Managers, promote the Water Resource Management market.

- Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews for Water Resource Management projects.

- Serve as the Client Manager for selected key clients.

**Project Delivery**

- Function as a project manager on large or key projects

- Assist with contract review on key projects to help ensure risk management, proper staffing, quality reviews and resolution of claims.

- Ensure the best technology and solutions are integrated into project delivery

- Serve as a QAQC reviewer for Drinking Water projects, including plans, specifications, models, presentation and report, and be engaged early in the project delivery process.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

- Masters’s degree in engineering, planning, or related field.

- Minimum of 20 years of experience in major water infrastructure projects

- Minimum 15 years managing municipal water and wastewater projects, engineering budgets, project teams.

- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on project engineering experience

- Good leadership and organizational skills.

- Experience with staff mentoring and development of multidiscipline teams a must.

**Required Qualifications**

- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field

- A minimum of 10 years of industry experience

- Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services

- Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits

- Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth

- Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector

- Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers

- Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
