Under the general supervision of the Unit Sergeant, the Clerk’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, data entry, sending emails, and interacting with the public and other law enforcement agencies pertaining to motor vehicle thefts and burglary of motor vehicles. Duties And Responsibilities
Answer phone calls, take messages, and provide information to the public as needed
Send and receive emails
Open and distribute mail
Data entry and management
Compile and complete the monthly mileage report
Maintain office supply inventory and orders
Release property and notarize releases as needed
Maintain and keep payroll records

High School Diploma or equivalency
A minimum of one (1) year of paid work experience in an office environment performing clerical duties
Pass pre-employment HCSO Clerical Skills Test with a minimum overall score of 75% and score a typing speed of 35 W.P.M with 85% accuracy
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of general office methods, procedures, and practices.
State laws and criminal procedures pertaining to burglary of motor vehicles, motor vehicle thefts, and other crimes that may arise during an investigation.
Skilled in:
Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Customer service and excellent interpersonal skills.
Use of SUPERION/ RMS, JWEB, Microsoft Office Applications, and other applicable computer systems.
Ability to:
Work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
Communicate with and interact with the public.
Adhere to duty hours with an excellent attendance record.
STARS Timekeeper Experience
Bilingual in Spanish
Knowledge of standard office software programs

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
This role is sedentary; however, the ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds is necessary to lift files and/or boxes of files, documents, etc.
Position Type And Typical Hours Of Work
This is a grant-funded position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours may vary based on the business needs of the department.
