Law firm experience preferred

Position Summary: The Legal Assistant provides administrative and substantive support to attorneys handling litigation and transactional matters. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient case management, accurate document preparation, and compliance with court procedures and deadlines. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
Perform electronic filing (e-filing) in accordance with applicable state and federal court rules and procedures
Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling hearings, depositions, meetings, and tracking deadlines
Coordinate logistics with courts, opposing counsel, clients, and third-party vendors
Organize, maintain, and update case files in both electronic and physical formats
Assist with trial and hearing preparation, including assembling exhibits, binders,and supporting materials
Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks
Handle routine correspondence and communications on behalf of attorneys
Conduct basic legal and factual research as directed
Assist with time entry, billing support, and expense tracking as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong proofreading, grammar, and document formatting skills
High level of organization and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management systems (preferred)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
Professional demeanor and appearance appropriate for an office setting
Education and Experience:
1+ years of administrative support in a professional office setting
Prior experience in a legal assistant or litigation support role preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Work Environment:
Position requires the ability to work effectively within the firm’s office environment as currently structured, including regular on-site presence and collaboration with attorneys and staff
Compensation: Up to $50,000 annually + benefits, commensurate with experience
